Food, Meat, Cooking, and Smoking

By my own confession this is much more of a hobby thing than a "be prepared" thing. My wife and I love to cook, we grill many nights a week, and I try to smoke something every few weeks in the summer. While I know we'll integrate some homesteading ideas onto this page because they are relevant to the conversation the other reality is we like to cook good food and want to share some of our best secrets!

The flame

I'm a big fan of smoking meat. Most of what I do these days comes from our Big Green Egg and honestly the meat turns out great. That said, I am a huge fan of Franklin BBQ and in Aaron's book he talks extensively about the impact of an open flame on the flavor of food.
